For the third consecutive year Zain Iraq is the official sponsor of ‘Iraq land of peace’ Carnival in Bagdad and Diwaniyah .
In the event of the World Peace Day,Zain Iraq, part of Zain group - a leading telecom innovator in eight markets across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – announced its participation at ‘Bagdad City of Peace’ carnival held in September 2017 under the theme ‘Iraq land of peace’, as the official sponsor. Supporting the carnival for the third consecutive year, Zain Iraq renews its commitment towards achieving the United Nations 17 sustainable development goals.
‘Bagdad City of Peace’ is one of the most important youth voluntary initiatives that was launched since 2011 by a group of Bagdad youth that gathered through social society initiatives and bodies, sharing their belief in everybody’s right to have inner peace, and mainly aiming to reposition Bagdad as the ‘City of Peace’. Providing engagement platforms for youth and society organizations, the carnival’s initiatives are set to avail opportunities for investing and developing youth efforts and capabilities to build a society that believes in peace. This year, Zain Iraq has expanded its sponsorship to include ‘Diwaniyah City of Peace’ carnival as well. Following previous years’ successes built on voluntary work and collaborative spirit, this year’s carnival also saw a significant participation welcoming over 500 talents from musicians, singers, actors and handcrafters from all over the country in the presence of more than 20,000 attendees.
Ali Al-Zahid, CEO, Zain Iraq, said: “We strive at Zain Iraq to continuously support youth through sponsoring activities that boost their engagement in civil society initiatives and campaigns. We are also committed to achieve the global goals of sustainable development, especially establishing peace. Following that, we have been keen to sponsor the ‘Bagdad City of Peace’ carnival for the past two years and renewed our partnership this year in Bagdad, and expanded it to Diwaniyah as well. Partnership with the youth society is part of our corporate social responsibility, and nurturing and developing youth capabilities in all sectors falls under our key goals.”
The carnival activities enables participants to engage and develop collaboration spirit among youth in line with providing them with a chance to showcase their talents. Iraq has been annually celebrating the World Peace day with civil society organizations, public committees and youth groups through a variety of artistic and cultural activities that are positively utilized to launch supporting campaigns for undermined divisions.
