Zain Iraq donates 750 Million Dinars to the healthcare sector in an effort to combat the novel coronavirus in Iraq

Zain Iraq, part of Zain Group, the leading mobile telecom innovator in eight markets across the Middle East and Africa, donates medical equipment and supplies worth up to 750 million dinars vitally needed by the medical units to the healthcare sector in an effort to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus in Iraq.

Zain Iraq CEO, Ali Al-Zahid, wishing health and safety for all Iraqis, said: “Given the present critical situation, and Zain Iraq’s responsibility towards the community, contributing to the fight against COVID-19 is a must.”

The contribution will go into the donation account, established by the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) in coordination with the Communications and Media Commission (CMC) in support of the coronavirus crisis cell.

The money will be used to buy supplies and devices for the healthcare sector, such as artificial respirators, sterilization kits, protective kits for medical personnel and patients, and any additional equipment needed by the medical units.

CEO Al-Zahid, added: “I invite all Iraqis to be united and to stand together in the fight against this pandemic. Allow me to thank the medical staff, our frontline fighters, for their heroic role, and our CMC partners for their efforts, engagement, and direct supervision on all of our initiatives and for coordinating our donation with the medical authorities. And of course, I thank all Zain Iraq employees for their commitment and dedication to providing the best services to our subscribers.”

It is worth mentioning that Zain Iraq has created a Crisis Cell as soon as the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the COVID-19 outbreak, and mobilized all its staff which works around the clock amid the challenges to ensure the continuity of providing the best communication and internet services to all the citizens.

In this short time, Zain Iraq has made a chain of actions of innovative services, including extending credit validity for 14 days for free, allowing inbound calls without credit until future recharge, providing the ability to contact technical support and customer service 24/7 on call centers and social media platforms, and introducing free applications and subscriptions during the curfew.
