Zain Iraq launches its Ramadan campaign distributing food baskets to more than 15,000 displaced people and beneficiaries


Zain Iraq, part of the Zain Group, a leading telecom innovator in eight markets across the Middle East and Africa is keen to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan through many activities and events as inspired by its corporate social responsibility program. Zain Iraq aims to solidify its relationship with Iraqi citizens, strengthening their trust in the company as part of the local community. Zain looks forward to serving the community and contributing to sustainable development.

Upon the arrival of Ramadan, Zain Iraq launched its campaign "Ramadan Yazain Ayamak” with the distribution of food baskets to internally displaced people and other poor families, who amounted to more than 3000 individuals, including orphans and martyrs’ families. The launch also included the distribution of food on the roads for those who could not reach their homes in time in time for iftar.

"Ramadan Yazain Ayamak" campaign reflects the objectives of Zain Iraq and its commitment to the meanings and customs of the holy month of Ramadan. Zain Iraq allocated the largest share of food baskets to the internally displaced people from the city of Mosul, by distributing food aid to more than 1,000 families in the camps, which include citizens from the city’s right and left banks. This is in addition to ongoing campaigns to distribute free SIMs and recharge cards to internally displaced families in the camps.

It is worth mentioning that the distributed food baskets were put together according to the standards adopted by the World Food Organization and that each food basket can sustain the needs of a family of four members for the duration of one month.

Ali Al Zahid, CEO of Zain Iraq commented on these initiatives by saying: "Our company’s initiatives in sustainable development are continuous and follow a well-studied plan, which is why we are keen on having positive and sustainable impacts at the forefront of our initiatives and to measure the extent of their achievement of one the seventeen objectives of sustainable development adopted globally. The initiatives are diversified on different levels including a direct impact on handling part of a crisis such as the crisis of the displaced including sustainable impact initiatives such as polio vaccination campaigns and Iraqi youth empowerment initiatives in collaboration with UNICEF and the Ministry of Health”.

"Ramadan Yazain Ayamak" campaign will continue throughout the holy month of Ramadan, and will also target widows and elderly people, benefiting more than 15,000 Iraqi citizens throughout the country.
